Starlight is a series of paper-pieced templates in finished block sizes 6″, 9″, 12″ and 14″. This is a dramatic star block with umpteen colour and fabric options. There’s no fear of chopping off your beautiful points when joining Starlight blocks, as the star floats in the background fabric. This block first appeared in my Delightful Stars quilt.
Included in the Starlight pattern:
- Full-size templates to complete blocks that finish at 6″, 9″, 12″ and 14″ square. My templates are already reversed and identify the fabric patch to match the cutting chart.
- Cutting instructions for each block size. I’m a strong believer in pre-cutting my paper pieced patches. This allows me to enjoy the sewing and not worry about if a patch will fit or not.
- Detailed instructions, with photos, for completing the Starlight block. It is assumed that you have some experience already with paper piecing.
- Blank block diagram that you can print and colour with pencils/markers to audition your fabric and colour choices.
Please note that general instructions on how to paper piece are NOT included with this pattern. If you are new to paper piecing, I suggest my Paper Piecing Tutorial for Beginners booklet.
I do not consider Starlight to be a beginner pattern, as it can be tricky when joining the segments together. However, if you’ve done my six lessons included in my beginner’s tutorial, take your time and you should be just fine completing this block.

ALSO MY PRINTER IS BEING REPAIRED SO NO PRINTING FOR AWHILE. GLAD TO GET IT THOUGH.
I really like the pattern, and since we have no babies in the family right now, I intend to make table runners and a bed quilt!
I haven't made one yet, but have read the directions. The directions seem to be quite clear and the doll fairly easy to make.

I love the pattern. I am on a fixed income and want to make useful gifts for my three children and their spouses. This is very simple and I can use scraps or bits and pieces that I have laying around.
For Christmas I made my two daughter-in-laws and my daughter 3 table runners each for Christmas, January, and February. I am now making 3 table runners for March, April, and May. The month that they are born in they get 4 table runners. And, fortunately, they are February, April, and then December. With their birthdays spread out like this it is really each to make. I love the Sochi Table Runner. Going to be a great one to add to the group. Thank you so much.
very happy with the pattern and easy to follow instructions
These poems are very nice and will be useful. It is not easy to come up with little poems to have in a card.
Thank you.
Directions are well written and easy to follow.
This looks like a sweet pattern. Haven't had a chance to make it yet.
Easy to follow, just what I was looking for.
