Hankie Quilt Pattern

$9.00

You could use your grandmas vintage hankies for this– make a small heirloom quilt. Would be kind of fun to showcase some embroidery hankies, crochet edged hankies, or tatting.

Finished Size: determined by the number of hankies and blocks you have

MATERIALS NEEDED:
vintage hankies - each will make 4 blocks.

1 yard vintage fabric – background (vintage is optional) — to find out what size you will need for the background, you will need to measure each of the hankies.

* Your background will need to be 4″ larger than the largest hankie. That will give you 2″ extra on all sides of the hankie. Cut all your background pieces this size.

½ yard border

I think the pattern is very useful for ideas on how to incorporate old hankies as well as new ones in a quilt. I'm changing it just a little to make it more personal but I love the base pattern.

I started collecting vintage hankies several years ago including some of my Mom's hankies. I was looking for a quilt pattern to assemble them into a lasting memory. Although I haven't used the pattern yet, I can't wait to get started on this project.

I collect Hankies as well as use them. I always have one in my purse. Now that is an old fashion idea but I feel it's a way of recycling we can all do. But I have so many I'm always on the lookout for quilts that use hankies so as soon as I saw this one I purchased the pattern. It is easy to make and in the future I will make one for each of my nieces with Hankies from their Grandmother (my mom).
